Ingredients
- 2 medium Honeycrisp or Gala apples
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp melted butter
- as needed cooking spray
- 1/4 cup hot honey
- 2 Tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1Peel, core, and dice the apples into 1/4-inch pieces; pat dry with a paper towel so excess moisture does not thin the batter.
- 2In a medium bowl whisk flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- 3In a small bowl beat the egg with milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Pour wet into dry and stir just until a thick batter forms; fold in the diced apples.
- 4Preheat air fryer to 350°F for 3 minutes. Lightly spray the basket. Using a small cookie scoop or two spoons, drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the basket, spacing them apart; spray tops lightly.
- 5Air-fry 6 minutes, flip carefully, spray again, and cook another 4–6 minutes until deep golden brown, puffed, and cooked through at the center.
- 6Transfer fritters to a wire rack. Repeat with remaining batter, working in batches so the basket is never crowded.
- 7Warm the hot honey until fluid. Drizzle generously over the warm fritters and dust lightly with powdered sugar.
- 8Serve immediately while crisp outside and tender inside. Best eaten the same day.
