ThemedDessertAmericanNational Food DayCelebrateShakeShareable
Ingredients
- 3 cups chocolate ice cream
- 2 cups mint chocolate chip ice cream
- 1 1/4 cups whole milk
- 1/4 cup chocolate syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
- 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 8 leaves fresh mint leaves
- 1/4 cup crushed chocolate cookies
Instructions
- 1Place tall serving glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes. Soften both ice creams on the counter for 5 to 8 minutes until scoopable but still cold and firm.
- 2Pour a thin spiral of chocolate syrup into each chilled glass and tilt to coat the sides lightly; return glasses to the freezer while you blend.
- 3Add the chocolate ice cream, mint chocolate chip ice cream, whole milk, and peppermint extract to the blender.
- 4Blend on medium speed for 20 seconds, then stop, scrape down the sides, and blend another 15 to 25 seconds until creamy and flecked with green mint chips.
- 5Fold in most of the mini chocolate chips by pulsing the blender just 2 or 3 short times so the chips stay distinct instead of fully pulverized.
- 6Check thickness; the shake should be spoon-standing thick. If needed, pulse in a splash of milk, keeping the texture milkshake-dense rather than thin.
- 7Retrieve the prepared glasses and divide the mint chocolate chip milkshake among them, pouring slowly to preserve the syrup coating.
- 8Top each shake with a generous mound of whipped cream. Sprinkle the remaining mini chocolate chips and the crushed chocolate cookies over the cream.
- 9Garnish with fresh mint leaves pressed gently into the whipped cream so they stand upright and look bright.
- 10Serve immediately with spoons and straws so the cold mint-chocolate contrast and crunchy chip bits stay perfect for sharing.
