Warm Gingerbread Squares Topped with Whipped Cream and Dark Apple Butter

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup apple butter

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. 2Melt the butter then whisk it together with the molasses brown sugar milk and egg in a large bowl.
  3. 3Stir in the flour ginger cinnamon baking soda and salt until the batter is smooth then pour into the prepared pan.
  4. 4Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. 5While the gingerbread cools slightly whip the heavy cream to soft peaks.
  6. 6Cut the warm gingerbread into squares top each with a dollop of whipped cream and a generous spoon of dark apple butter then serve immediately.
