Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked navy beans
- 3 tbsp molasses
- 1 small onion
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 2 oz salt pork
- 4 thick slices brown bread
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- 1Dice the onion and salt pork into small pieces.
- 2Warm the cooked navy beans, onion, salt pork, molasses, dry mustard, and salt together in a saucepan over low heat for 15 minutes until the flavors meld and the mixture is creamy.
- 3Toast the brown bread slices until golden.
- 4Butter the warm toast generously and spoon the warm molasses beans over the top.
- 5Serve immediately while the beans are steaming.
