
Brown-Sugar Mochi Bites with Toasted Sesame

Ingredients
- 1.5 cups glutinous rice flour
- 1 cup water
- 0.5 cup brown sugar
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 0.25 cup kinako soybean flour
- 1 tsp neutral oil
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
- 1Mix glutinous rice flour, water, brown sugar, and salt in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth. Cover and microwave on high for 2 minutes, stir thoroughly, then microwave 2 more minutes until translucent and chewy.
- 2Oil a cutting board or baking dish lightly. Scrape the hot mochi onto it and let cool 5 minutes until handleable.
- 3Cut the mochi into 18-small bite-size pieces using oiled scissors or a knife.
- 4Roll half the pieces in toasted sesame seeds and the other half in kinako. Drizzle all pieces lightly with maple syrup before serving at room temperature.
