Ingredients

  • 4 cups seedless red grapes
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • optional fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1Rinse the grapes thoroughly and pat them dry, then remove any stems.
  2. 2Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves and the mixture turns clear, about 2 to 3 minutes; remove from heat and cool completely.
  3. 3Place the grapes in a blender along with the cooled simple syrup, lemon juice, and salt.
  4. 4Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and vibrant purple, about 45 to 60 seconds.
  5. 5Taste and adjust brightness with an extra squeeze of lemon if needed.
  6. 6Pour the puree through a fine-mesh strainer into a clean bowl, pressing with a spatula to extract as much liquid as possible and discard the solids.
  7. 7Transfer the strained mixture to a shallow freezer-safe container, cover, and freeze for 1 hour.
  8. 8After the first hour, scrape and stir vigorously with a fork to break up ice crystals, then return to the freezer.
  9. 9Repeat the scrape-and-stir process every 30 minutes for the next 2 to 3 hours until the sorbet is thick, scoopable, and smooth.
  10. 10For the silkiest texture, transfer the nearly frozen mixture to a food processor and pulse briefly before a final freeze.
  11. 11Scoop into chilled bowls or glasses.
  12. 12Garnish with a few fresh mint leaves if desired and serve immediately.
