Ingredients

  • 2 medium firm apples (Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • 2 cups seedless red grapes
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 8 wooden or metal skewers
  • 1/4 tsp pinch of flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. 1Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 20 minutes if using them so they do not scorch on the grill. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium heat, about 375°F.
  2. 2Core the apples and cut them into 1-inch chunks that will hold their shape. Toss the apple pieces gently with lemon juice so they stay bright and do not brown.
  3. 3Thread alternating apple chunks and whole grapes onto the skewers, leaving a little space between pieces for even heat. Aim for a balanced mix on each skewer.
  4. 4In a small bowl whisk together honey, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth and pourable. Brush the mixture lightly over all sides of the loaded skewers.
  5. 5Place the skewers on the hot grill grates. Grill for 3 to 4 minutes per side, turning once, until the apples show light grill marks and the grapes begin to soften and blister slightly.
  6. 6Watch closely near the end; the fruit should look glossy and caramelized at the edges but still hold together. Remove the skewers to a platter as soon as they are ready.
  7. 7While still warm, brush any remaining honey mixture over the fruit so it glazes and shines. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt across the tops.
  8. 8Tear fresh mint leaves and scatter them over the skewers just before serving. Serve warm as a simple fruit dessert or alongside a scoop of plain yogurt if desired.
  9. 9Let guests slide the fruit off the skewers with a fork. The combination of smoky apple, juicy grape, and cool mint makes these perfect for weekend gatherings.
