Ingredients

  • 4 whole chocolate cupcakes with frosting
  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 4 maraschino cherries
  • 1/4 cup crushed chocolate cupcake crumbs for garnish
  • 2 tbsp extra chocolate frosting for rim

Instructions

  1. 1Chill four tall milkshake glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes so the shakes stay frosty longer once poured.
  2. 2Spread a thin layer of extra chocolate frosting the rim of each chilled glass, then dip the rims into the crushed cupcake crumbs to create a decorative edge.
  3. 3Remove the paper liners from the chocolate cupcakes and roughly chop three of them into chunks, reserving one whole cupcake for later garnish.
  4. 4Add the chopped cupcakes, vanilla ice cream, milk, and chocolate syrup to a high-powered blender.
  5. 5Blend on high for 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth, thick, and free of large cupcake pieces, pausing once to scrape down the sides if needed.
  6. 6Check the consistency; if it is too thick to pour, add a splash more milk and pulse briefly until it reaches a spoonable yet drinkable texture.
  7. 7Pour the milkshake evenly into the prepared glasses, filling each three-quarters full.
  8. 8Top each shake with a generous swirl of whipped cream that peaks above the rim.
  9. 9Cut the remaining whole chocolate cupcake into four wedges and perch one wedge on the edge of each glass as an edible co-star garnish.
  10. 10Finish with a maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream and an extra drizzle of chocolate syrup if desired.
  11. 11Serve immediately with wide straws and long spoons so drinkers can enjoy both the blended cupcake flavor and the solid garnish pieces.
  12. 12Encourage stirring the crumbs and frosting rim into the shake for maximum chocolate cupcake intensity in every sip.
