Cinnamon Bizcochitos with a Little Anise

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup lard
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp anise seeds
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. 1Cream the lard and sugar together until light, then beat in the egg.
  2. 2Stir in the anise seeds, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  3. 3Gradually mix in the flour until a firm dough forms, then roll out on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
  4. 4Cut into traditional shapes, place on a sheet pan, and bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. 5Mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon, then coat the warm cookies in the mixture.
