Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb ground beef 90% lean
  • 3 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 12 oz sturdy tortilla chips
  • 3 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1 can 15 oz black beans drained
  • 1/3 cup pickled jalapeños
  • 2 roma tomatoes diced
  • 4 green onions sliced
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup guacamole or diced avocado
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime lime wedges

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 400°F. Set out a large rimmed sheet pan; no lining needed so chips crisp against the metal.
  2. 2Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small crumbles, about 6 to 8 minutes until no pink remains. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. 3Stir taco seasoning and water into the beef and simmer 2 minutes until the mixture is thick, glossy, and well coated. Remove from heat.
  4. 4Scatter half the tortilla chips across the sheet pan in an even layer. Spoon half the seasoned beef over the chips, then half the black beans and half the shredded cheese.
  5. 5Add a second layer of chips, remaining beef, remaining beans, and the rest of the cheese so every chip has a path to melt. Nestle pickled jalapeños across the top.
  6. 6Bake 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbling at the edges and the bottom chips are lightly toasted.
  7. 7Pull the pan and immediately top with diced tomatoes, green onions, and cilantro so the cool toppings contrast the hot cheese.
  8. 8Dollop sour cream and guacamole in ribbons across the surface. Serve the whole sheet pan at the table with lime wedges so guests can slide and pull portions—the sliding nacho format that keeps topping distribution even.
