Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen dark sweet cherries
- 1 large, sliced frozen banana
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup, plus more if needed unsweetened almond milk
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup for topping fresh cherries or berries
- 1/3 cup granola
- 2 tbsp sliced almonds
- 1 tbsp dark chocolate shavings or mini chips
- 1 tsp chia seeds
Instructions
- 1Add the frozen cherries, frozen banana slices, cocoa powder, Greek yogurt, almond milk, almond butter, honey, vanilla, and pinch of salt to a high-powered blender.
- 2Blend on high for 45–60 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides once or twice, until completely smooth and thick like soft-serve ice cream. If the blades stall, add milk at a time—keep it spoonable, not pourable.
- 3Taste and adjust sweetness with an extra drizzle of honey if desired. The mixture should hold peaks and not run when spooned.
- 4Divide the thick smoothie evenly between two shallow bowls, using the back of a spoon to create a slight well or swirl pattern on top for toppings.
- 5Arrange fresh cherries or berries in a neat line or cluster on one side of each bowl. Sprinkle granola and sliced almonds over the remaining surface.
- 6Finish with dark chocolate shavings and a light dusting of chia seeds for crunch and visual contrast.
- 7Serve immediately with a spoon while still frosty. For extra chill, place empty bowls in the freezer for 10 minutes before filling.
- 8If prepping components ahead, keep toppings separate and blend the base fresh so the texture stays thick and cold.
