Ingredients
- 1 (12-count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 12 oz breakfast sausage links or bulk sausage
- 8 large eggs
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 3/4 tsp, divided kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- for drizzling (optional) maple syrup or hot honey
- 2 tbsp chopped chives or green onions
Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Without separating the rolls, slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally so you have a connected top and bottom. Place the bottom half in the prepared dish.
- 2Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small crumbles if using bulk, until browned and cooked through, 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat and scatter the sausage evenly over the roll bottoms.
- 3In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth. Wipe the same skillet, reduce heat to medium-low, and scramble the eggs gently until just set but still soft and slightly glossy, 3–4 minutes. They will finish cooking in the oven.
- 4Spread the soft scrambled eggs over the sausage layer. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar evenly on top. Place the top slab of rolls over the cheese.
- 5In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, remaining salt, garlic powder, and everything bagel seasoning. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls so every surface is coated.
- 6Cover the dish loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake another 8–10 minutes until the cheese is melted, the tops are golden, and the edges are lightly crisp.
- 7Remove from the oven and let rest 3–4 minutes so the layers set. Sprinkle with chopped chives. Use a sharp knife to cut along the roll lines into 12 individual sliders.
- 8Serve warm, two per person, with optional maple syrup or hot honey for a sweet-savory finish. These reheat beautifully for weekday grab-and-go mornings.
