Ingredients

  • 2 medium ripe bananas
  • 2 cups chocolate ice cream
  • 1 cup chocolate milk
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 1 cup cola or root beer
  • 2 extra chocolate ice cream scoops
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream
  • 6 banana slices for garnish
  • 2 tbsp chocolate syrup

Instructions

  1. 1Chill two large float glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes so they stay frosty under the soda.
  2. 2Peel the ripe bananas and break them into chunks directly into the blender.
  3. 3Add the chocolate ice cream, chocolate milk, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract on top of the banana.
  4. 4Drop in the ice cubes to keep everything ultra-cold and thick.
  5. 5Blend on medium-high for 30 seconds until the bananas disappear and the mixture is silky and pourable.
  6. 6Remove the glasses from the freezer and pour the chocolate-banana shake halfway up each glass.
  7. 7Slowly top each glass with the cola or root beer, pouring down the side to preserve fizz and create the float effect.
  8. 8Gently place one extra scoop of chocolate ice cream on top of each float so it bobs in the foam.
  9. 9Add a tall swirl of whipped cream over the floating scoop.
  10. 10Arrange fresh banana slices the rim and drizzle chocolate syrup over the cream.
  11. 11Serve immediately with a long spoon and straw so you can dig into the melting ice cream and sip the fizzy chocolate-banana base.
  12. 12Enjoy while the soda is still lively and the float layers are distinct.
