ThemedBreakfastAmericanOvernight Oats

Ingredients

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 large crisp apple, grated or finely diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • as needed extra apple slices and maple syrup for topping

Instructions

  1. 1In a medium bowl or large measuring cup, stir together the rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, chia seeds, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until fully combined.
  2. 2Fold in the grated or finely diced apple so the fruit is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  3. 3Divide the mixture evenly between two jars or airtight containers. Press the surface gently so the oats are submerged.
  4. 4Seal and refrigerate overnight, or at least 6 hours, until the oats are creamy and fully hydrated.
  5. 5In the morning, give each jar a good stir. If the mixture is thicker than you like, loosen with a splash of milk.
  6. 6Taste and adjust with an extra drizzle of maple syrup if desired.
  7. 7Top each portion with chopped walnuts and a few fresh apple slices for texture contrast.
  8. 8Serve cold straight from the jar, or warm gently in the microwave for 45 to 60 seconds if you prefer a cozy bowl. The oats should be spoonable, lightly sweet, and full of fresh apple flavor.
