Apple Almond Butter Toast
ThemedBreakfastAmericanToastQuickOpen-faced
Ingredients
- 2 slices thick-cut whole-grain bread
- 4 Tbsp natural almond butter
- 1 large crisp apple (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 tsp honey
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp toasted hemp seeds
- 1 pinch flaky sea salt
- 1/2 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp unsalted butter or olive oil for toasting
Instructions
- 1Core the apple and slice it into very thin rounds or half-moons; toss gently with the lemon juice so the slices stay crisp and bright.
- 2Heat a skillet or toaster oven over medium heat; lightly brush both sides of the bread with butter or oil.
- 3Toast the bread in the skillet 2–3 minutes per side until deep golden and crisp at the edges, or toast in a toaster until sturdy enough to hold toppings.
- 4While the bread is still warm, spread each slice generously with almond butter, going all the way to the edges so every bite is covered.
- 5Shingle the apple slices overlapping across the almond butter in a single pretty layer; the fruit should look abundant and fresh.
- 6Drizzle the honey lightly over the apples, then dust with cinnamon and a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt.
- 7Scatter the hemp seeds over the top for subtle crunch and extra nutrition.
- 8Serve immediately while the toast is still warm and the apples are cool and juicy; the contrast of creamy almond butter, tart-sweet apple, and crunchy seeds should feel satisfying and light.
