Weeknight Margherita-Style Sheet-Pan Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough ball
  • 1 1/2 cups canned crushed tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 anchovy fillets

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 475°F with a rimmed steel or heavy sheet pan inside for at least 20 minutes.
  2. 2Stretch or roll the dough to fit the hot sheet pan, drizzle with olive oil, and spread the crushed tomatoes mixed with minced garlic, dried oregano, and salt in a thin even layer.
  3. 3Tear the mozzarella into pieces and scatter over the sauce along with the chopped anchovies.
  4. 4Bake on the bottom rack for 12-15 minutes until the crust is blistered and deeply browned at the edges and the cheese is bubbling.
  5. 5Remove from oven, scatter fresh basil leaves, and finish with a final drizzle of the remaining olive oil before slicing.
