Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- 1Preheat your Belgian waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions (usually medium-high heat).
- 2Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave and let it cool slightly.
- 3In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- 4In a separate medium bowl, beat the eggs until frothy, then whisk in the milk, cooled melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- 5Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently with a spatula until just combined – a few small lumps are okay; do not overmix.
- 6Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron with nonstick spray or a little extra melted butter.
- 7Scoop about 1/2 to batter per waffle (adjust to your iron size) onto the center of the iron.
- 8Close the lid and cook for 4–6 minutes until deep golden brown and crisp on the outside.
- 9Carefully remove the waffle and keep warm in a 200 °F oven while you cook the remaining batter.
- 10Serve hot with softened butter, maple syrup, fresh berries, or powdered sugar.
